New In-App Purchase Expansion: Nightfall: Martial Law

Nightfall: Martial Law introduces many new characters, actions and new color combinations for creating chains and achieving kickers. Martial Law will also introduce the new "Feed" mechanic which will allow players to get even more uses out of their orders. The game also brings to the table a new “Wound” effect that is sure to surprise opponents.

In Nightfall, players must master hordes of ghouls, vampires and werewolves as they struggle to gain control of a post-apocalyptic world.

Begin with a set of starter Minions then draft cards into your private Archives, play cards into the Chain in order to maximize the effectiveness of your cards and Claim new Minions and Actions to pit against your foes. Attack your opponents every round in an effort to weaken your rivals. Time is limited and only mastering all Phases of the game will leave you standing as the victor at the end of the game.

Pros and cons of Nightfall app for iPhone and iPad

Nightfall app good for

This game is an amazing port of a deck-building card tabletop game!! The quality is very high. Great graphics and audio that satisfies every moment. Full online multiplayer including asynchronous! Campaign modes. No greedy and patronizing ads everywhere. One VERY MODESTLY priced expansion is available to date, and adds great value and is very optional. I hope theres something we can do to grow the player base, because thats the only thing lacking--players to start games with! Lets make it free or 99 cents for a while to get some peeps hooked!
A great card game very well adapted to the numeric format. Tutorial is a little bit confusing for new players but the rules are quite easy to understand. A translation in french would be very much appreciated, I hope to see it comes in next update. Any clue regarding the extensions which are visible ingame but still locked? Deserves 5 stars but Ill only put 4 for the lack of french translation...
Great integration, very cool deck building game - this is going to get me to buy the boxed version as well :)
This is a wild game, and a deep one at that. I really didnt like it at first but I knew there must be something there considering other positive reviews and the high quality of ios Ascension. If you are unfamiliar with Nightfall like I was, be prepared for a steep learning curve. There is a payoff though! The interface is typically awesome Playdek quality. This game will push you to think hard. Enjoy! It is annoying how moon colors are obscured in the player area by adjacent cards. There is also a bug where the Alton Hickman card is successfully blocked by AI opponents even though it supposedly cant be blocked.
Your enjoyment of this game will depend on what you are looking for. If its asynchronous multiplayer stick to two player and its a great game. Go above 2 asynchronously and it gets painful fast! There are just too many phases and subdecisions to be made back and forth that you can literally click an opponents avatar to attack only to wait for them to choose what defense to play. Having said that, if you are looking for single player vs. ai, 2 player asynchronously or if you are going to play live multiplayer with more than 2 its a fantastic game. The chaining of colors/card, the different stages that all have unique feels to them and the great production values(great art/ui etc.) all add up to a solid card style game that is 1 part ascension, 1 part magic the gathering.
My favorite iOS card game by far. It takes a bit of time to learn for those unfamiliar with the analogue version but its worth the trouble. Theres a little more going on then there is in Ascension or Dominion but it shares enough that being familiar with them will help lessen the learning curve.

Some bad moments

I play a lot of complex games, but between the 30 minute tutorial and all the rules I couldnt get it. Not willing to put any more time into learning it. Dollar wasted.
The mechanics are interesting at first, but quickly grow stale. Theme is not executed well. There are many better deckbuilding games available (I recommend Ascension). Plus, it hasnt even been updated to fit the iPhone 5s screen, and that came out years ago. Not worth your time or money.
For everything that goes on in this game... They did a great job. Everything is intuitive and well placed. The only complaint I have is sometimes when trying to switch to see the minions that certain players have can be difficult at times. But still a great product.
I love this and play it a ton, but it is way too hard for brginners to get used to. I was lucky enough to learn on the physical game, and i think this would be much improved by stopping the game each round. Still... Buy it. It is awesome.
The physical version of this game is one of my favorite board games and this has quickly become my favorite iOS game. The overall game has a significant but not impossible learning curve - so if you have never played be prepared for that. It might be worthwhile to go online and grab the PDF rule book for the tabletop version, probably a better tutorial. The interface is slick, near perfect on the new iPad but a bit too cluttered on the iPhone 4s. Because of card size it can sometimes be near impossible to select cards deep in the chain. Overall though it is quite functional if not a tad obtuse. I didnt realize I could swap out minion/deck views for myself and other players until I had played for about a week! I really cant wait for the expansions and Playdeks Thunderstone adaptation!
This is probably the best deck building game on the market. Playdek has done a superb job transitioning this to a great IPad game. It is way too small for the iPhone but plays brilliantly on a larger screen. This game only gets better with expansions. I have played close to 50 games with this app and I am now starting to get bored. I really hope the expansions come out soon before I forget about this great app. Buy this game if you like Magic the gathering, Dominion, Etc. Worth the $$$
