If You Cant Play In Person ...
This game is loads of fun. In person it is easily my favorite Deck-Builder. It does not give me the "multi-player solitaire" experience I get from other many other Deck-Builders (not that I dont love Dominion, and Race for the Galaxy).
There is a learning curve, as many other critics have noted. I found chaining easiest to learn if you view it as a trick taking mechanic (like every players turn is a round of UNO). It is more intricate than that, but that description has served me well in teaching others how to play.
I read a review that said "...Playing Nightfall is like being thrown into a pit filled with pointy sticks and angry wolves and then discovering that the wolves have developed the uncanny ability to wield pointy sticks..." that is the experience. It is GRAND.
I love it IRL, but you get your fix where you can. The On-Line implementation is solid. Off-Line the AI tends to be more Anti-You than the free for all the game is intended to be. It also has the uncanny ability to almost "know" what you have in your hand, as well as how many wounds you have, so play with wound count on vs. the AI (not so much against players so as to avoid King Maker scenarios).
Furious Melee may seem OP, and in games vs. the AI it is. Try Drop Furious Melee a couple of times in quick successions in games against living adversaries, and you will find a HUGE kill me sign taped to you (and balance is restored).
Good Luck, Happy Hunting
